FAQ
Mobile Bartending FAQ: Answers Before You Book
You provide the alcohol. We plan the menu and run the bar. Here’s what’s included, what costs extra, and how booking works.
What is BYOB mobile bartending?
You purchase and own the alcohol. On The Rocks Girls provides bartender service, tools, custom cocktail/mocktail menus, printed menu/signage, setup, and cleanup. The mobile bar, cups, ice, mixers, and garnishes cost extra; glassware is not offered.
Why does the host buy the alcohol?
California ABC does not issue a separate mobile-bartending license that allows a service like ours to buy alcohol for a client and be reimbursed. You choose and purchase the bottles in advance; we tell you what to buy and how much based on the final menu, guest count, and service time.
Can your team pick up or deliver the alcohol for me?
No. The host must purchase and own the alcohol before the event. We can recommend brands and quantities, but we do not buy, resell, or deliver the bottles.
What exactly do you bring?
Bartender service, bar tools, a custom cocktail/mocktail menu, printed menu/signage, setup, and cleanup are included. The mobile bar, disposable cups, ice, mixers, and fresh garnishes are available at additional cost. Glassware is not offered. Your proposal sets out the service and selected additions.
Do you provide an alcohol shopping list?
Yes. After booking, once your menu is final, we send a detailed alcohol shopping list based on the menu, guest count, and service time.
How many bartenders will my event need?
Guest count is the starting point, not the only factor. Under 50 guests often begins with one bartender, 50–99 often begins with two, and 100+ generally requires a team of 3 or more; venue layout, menu complexity, and service peaks can change that recommendation.
How many drinks should be on the menu?
For many events, 3 to 5 cocktails plus at least one zero-proof option gives guests useful choice without slowing service. A larger list is not automatically better; every additional drink adds ingredients, decisions, and steps behind the bar.
Can you create a signature cocktail from an idea I already have?
Yes. Bring a favorite spirit, flavor, recipe, color, name, or theme, and we can develop the drink from there. If you have no starting point, we can recommend a balanced menu after learning what you and your guests tend to enjoy.
Do you make non-alcoholic drinks?
Yes. Custom mocktail planning is included. Mixers and fresh garnishes are available at additional cost; glassware is not offered.
Is a professional bar worth it for a smaller party?
Yes, when the host wants to attend the gathering instead of running a service station. A smaller guest count still requires ice, tools, glassware, prep, ordering, restocking, and cleanup; one bartender can take that work out of the host's hands.
Do you set up and clean up?
Yes. Our team arrives before service to build and prepare the station, then breaks down the bar and cleans the service area when the scheduled service ends. Arrival and breakdown timing are confirmed in the event plan.
What business and insurance documents can you provide?
Licensed and insured. We can provide proof of insurance, business documentation, and applicable staff certifications to you, your planner, or your venue coordinator.
Can you provide a Certificate of Insurance?
Yes. Send the venue's requirements and contact information as early as possible. If the venue needs to be listed as an additional insured, include the exact legal name and requested wording so the document can be prepared correctly.
Are your bartenders RBS-certified?
Yes. Our bartenders hold California Responsible Beverage Service certification. RBS training covers responsible service practices, including identification checks and avoiding service to minors or visibly intoxicated guests.
If your venue has documentation requirements or you are working toward a specific date, send the details and we will tell you what applies to your event.
Check AvailabilityWhat areas do you serve?
We provide full coverage across Orange County, Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, and San Diego. If your city is outside those areas, send the date and location so we can tell you directly whether service is possible.
How far ahead should I reserve my date?
Reserve as soon as the date and location are reasonably firm. Weddings, Saturdays, summer dates, and holiday events tend to fill earlier; if the event is close, call or text because shorter timelines are accepted when the schedule and details allow.
Do I need a final guest count before contacting you?
No. An estimate is enough to begin. We use it to recommend a working plan, then adjust when the count becomes more reliable.
What if my guest count changes after I book?
Tell us as soon as it changes. We will review whether staffing, quantities, glassware, ice, or the service layout need to be adjusted and explain any revision before it is made.
How does the deposit work?
A signed agreement and deposit reserve your date. The proposal and service agreement state the payment schedule and event-specific terms before you commit.
How quickly will I hear back?
We’ll get back to you at our earliest availability. If your event is approaching, you can also call or text (714) 681-2996.
What happens on event day?
The team arrives at the confirmed time, sets up the station, prepares the menu, serves guests, manages restocking, and completes breakdown and cleanup. You should be celebrating, not managing.
250+ Southern California events served since 2015 have shaped the planning questions we ask and the details we settle before arrival.
Still Deciding?
Send the date, city, event type, and estimated guest count. We will tell you what the bar needs and whether the date is available.
